Easy Stove-top Popcorn
I grew up on microwave popcorn, but stove-top popcorn is so much better, and better for you. I like knowing all of the ingredients that go into my food. Microwave popcorn has so much junk in it and I don’t really want to be feeding that to my kids. This easy stove-top popcorn recipe is simple, but it is so delicious. If you want to make caramel popcorn, try making the stove-top popcorn and then using the caramel sauce from my Healthier Puff Corn recipe.

My kids love stove-top popcorn. Like, they really love it. This past Thanksgiving we were going around saying the things we were thankful for and my now 2 year old said, “popcorn”. There might have been someone whispering in her ear to say that. In fact, a couple nights ago, she brings me an empty bowl and says “eat”. I asked her if she ate all the popcorn and she says, “Dean eat.” I think it is funny that she used her dad’s name instead of saying daddy. I asked my husband about it and he just laughed. Apparently my 2 year old ate the whole bowl and then blamed it on daddy.
Favorite Popcorn Flavors
While we like plain stove-top popcorn, we also like to add a little flavor. Here are a couple of fabulous popcorn recipes that I have found online that my family loves:
- Make sure you use nutritional yeast, not brewer’s yeast. I had brewer’s yeast on hand the first time I tried to make this. I found out the hard way that they are definitely NOT the same. The recipe is delicious when you use the correct kind of yeast though.
- This recipe calls for microwave popcorn, but I just popped my own on the stove. One bag of popcorn is equivalent to about 1/4 cup of un-popped kernels.
This is our favorite popcorn to buy.
