I had a freezer meal party this week. (If you are curious about how to plan a freezer meal party, you have to get the cookbook From Freezer to Table. They explain everything about hosting a party. In the front of the cookbook it pretty much gives you step by step instructions). I created this Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza recipe specifically for my freezer meal party. This pizza is awesome. I mean, who doesn’t like pizza, but pizza with hamburger, bacon, cheese and pickles on it is a no brainer. It is fantastic.

You can certainly make this pizza with frozen dough or make that pizza dough from a mix, but why would you. Pizza dough is, honestly, super easy to make and it’s so much better. Check out my Honey Garlic Pizza Dough recipe. You will never buy dough mix or frozen dough from the store again. Pizza dough freezes well. You can either freeze it by itself in a freezer bag or assemble the pizza and freeze before baking. You can make one big pizza or little personal pizzas and freeze them. The little pizzas are perfect for lunch and the kids always think it’s cool to have their own little pizza.

I used my Perfectly Cooked Bacon recipe to make the bacon for this recipe. I did recently try some pre-cooked bacon for a different recipe that I was testing out and it wasn’t too bad. If I have the time, I cook the bacon myself, but it’s good to know if I am in a time crunch, pre-cooked bacon would work too. As for the seasoning in this Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza, you have to get Bam! Burger seasoning. It is one of the best burger seasonings out there.

Description

This is the perfect marriage of a bacon cheeseburger and a pizza.  You can really make it your own by adding any toppings that you like on a cheeseburger to the pizza.  It is flavorful and definitely a family favorite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 batch of my honey garlic pizza dough, or you can substitute frozen pizza dough, (although it is not as good).
  • 1/4 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 large squirt ketchup
  • 1 large squirt mustard
  • 1/2 of a large onion, chopped
  • 1/4 cup pickles, chopped or sliced
  • 1/2 pound ground beef, cooked
  • 1/2 pound bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. Spray a pizza pan with cooking spray, or line it with parchment paper.

  3. Saute onions for about 5 minutes in a pan on the stove.

  4. Spread pizza dough out on the pizza pan, working it with your hands to get it to the edge of the pan.
    5. Add pizza sauce and squirts of mustard and ketchup. (See picture for what I mean by squirts. You can put however much you want).Squirt desired amount of ketchup and mustard on your bacon cheeseburger pizza
    6. Add onions and pickles.Add the onions and pickles to the bacon cheeseburger pizza
    7. Next add ground beef and bacon.Add the ground beef and bacon to the bacon cheeseburger pizza
    8. Top with cheese.Top the bacon cheeseburger pizza with cheese
    9. Bake for 16 to 18 minutes.

Notes

To Freeze:  Assemble pizza, but do not bake.  Wrap in pizza and pan in plastic wrap and then in foil.  Freeze.  Once it is completely frozen you can remove the foil and plastic wrap and take out the pan.  Then re-wrap the pizza in plastic wrap and foil.  You can certainly just leave the pizza on the pan in the freezer, but if you wanted to make a bunch of pizzas to freeze, you would need your pizza pan.

When you are ready to prepare: Thaw pizza in refrigerator for 24 hours.  Bake as directed, adding a few minutes if necessary.
