The Best Veggie Pizza
Every Christmas, we have one meal where everyone makes their favorite appetizer. My brother always makes his taco dip, which no one really loves but him, so there is always left overs. My sister makes mushroom things. They are so incredibly delicious. You can’t go wrong with a recipe that involves crescent rolls and cream cheese. I could seriously eat the entire batch in one sitting. I will have to put that recipe on this blog soon. Dad will either do oyster stew (no one eats it but him) or meatballs. Mom sometimes does turkey roll ups, but sometimes she does nothing because we have so much food. My sister in law makes sausage wonton cups. These are also fabulous. My husband either makes cheesy Rotel dip or ham pickle roll ups. (One year he used a few sweet pickles to be funny. Let’s just say that did not go over well. Sweet pickles are a waste of a perfectly good cucumber). My kids often do veggie and fruit trays in the shape of Christmas trees. My appetizer of choice is the best veggie pizza ever. It is so good. It also involves crescent rolls and cream cheese. Clearly, we aren’t trying to be healthy at Christmas time. Ha!

The Ingredients
I have never tried to make my own crescent rolls and I doubt I ever will. In my opinion, crescent rolls can’t be duplicated, and the crescent rolls have to be Pillsbury. Don’t try to be cheap and buy some generic brand. They are not the same. This veggie pizza recipe also calls for cream cheese, a dry ranch packet, mayo, shredded cheddar cheese or Mexican blend and your choice of veggies. (Check out my recent blog post, The Great Mayo Debate. It gives the details about when my siblings and I did a blind taste test of mayo, miracle whip and whipped dressing). As for the veggies, I prefer to use mushrooms, broccoli and carrots. One year, I added tomatoes, but that just made the pizza soggy. I have also added red peppers before, but it just isn’t as good. You can certainly use whatever veggies you like, but for it to be pure deliciousness, stick to the recipe. You won’t be sorry.
Whenever I have a party to go to and I need to bring an appetizer, this is my go to recipe. I have a few coworkers who love it. They are very excited that I am posting the recipe on my blog. It’s actually a super easy recipe. This truly is the best veggie pizza recipe. I have had other veggie pizzas from many different grocery stores and nothing compares.

- Total Time: 26 minutes
- Yield: 10 servings 1x
Description
This veggie pizza is truly the best veggie pizza I have ever had. It is my go to appetizer for every occasion. You can’t go wrong with cream cheese and crescent rolls.
Ingredients
- 2 packages of Pillsbury crescent rolls
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 3/4 cup mayo
- 1 dry ranch packet
- Raw mushrooms, diced
- Raw carrots sliced
- Raw broccoli chopped
- Mexican blend shredded cheese
Instructions
- Spray a cookie sheet with cookie spray, or use a silpat mat.
- Roll out crescent roll dough, making sure it covers the entire cookie sheet. Make sure you pinch the seams together.
- Bake crescent rolls according to the package.
- While crescent rolls are baking, prepare the veggies.
- Once crescent roll crust is done baking, let it cool completely.
- While it is cooling, in a medium bowl mix together softened cream cheese and mayo. Add dry ranch packet and stir until well combined.
- Spread the cream cheese and mayo mixture onto the cooled crescent roll crust.
- Add mushrooms, carrots and broccoli. (I didn’t give an exact amount of each of these to add, because I usually just eye ball it. I add more if I think it needs more. See pictures below to see how much I put on).
- Add shredded cheese. (Again, I eye ball this. See the pictures below for reference)
- Chill pizza then cut into squares.
- Serve cold.
Notes
Make sure you use mayo, or Hy-Vee whipped dressing. Miracle whip will not be good. To see more about the debate between mayo, Hy-Vee whipped dressing and Miracle whip, check out The Great Mayo Debate.
