Sneaky Pete
My plan was to share recipes from the wonderful mothers in my life in May, but May flew by. We had end of year stuff for school as well as busy dance recitals, plus having 4 kids keeps me busy. I will share some of their recipes in the beginning of June instead. Ha! First, I want to share one of my mom’s recipe. My family has these sneaky petes every summer. They are so yummy, and a really refreshing drink in the summer. It’s like an Icee for adults. (I still love Icee’s from the gas station). My kids love the non alcoholic sneaky pete version.

My mom introduced me to the sneaky pete about 10 years ago at one of my immediate family’s staycations. Every summer we have a staycation at my parent’s house with all of my siblings and their families, and sneaky petes, Italian pasta salad, orzo salad with lemon, feta and pine nuts and stromboli are all staples for staycation. Mom says that she has had this sneaky pete recipe long before I was even born, but obviously, I was only introduced to it after I was old enough to drink alcohol.
I have a great mom who has some great recipes. I feel like the best part of my relationship with my mom is laughing together. She and I are so much alike, so we often think the same things are funny. Once you get us laughing, we can’t stop. We laugh even more if we have each had a couple of sneaky petes. Honestly, you have to be careful when drinking sneaky petes. You basically can’t taste the alcohol, which is why we call them sneaky petes, so please drink responsibly. Ha!
